TETER, LLP, is a full-service, award-winning architecture and engineering firm serving clients throughout California's Central Valley and Central Coast. We are continuing to grow and have an opportunity on our Mechanical Engineering Team for an experienced Engineer-In-Training (EIT).

Under minimal supervision, the Mechanical EIT provides all engineering, technical and administrative support to take a project from start through completion, including drafting, HVAC load and energy calculations, HVAC and plumbing system design, and other project-related functions.

Essential Functions

  • Using sketches and drafting markups from senior staff, produce project documentation including floor plans, details, elevations, ceiling plans, revisions, and other items to accurately depict the mechanical design on a project level.
  • Coordinate with architects, engineers, technicians, clients, sub-consultants and others in the design of mechanical systems on a project level basis.
  • Learn and apply techniques and methodology process of HVAC and plumbing equipment selection.
  • Actively work toward obtaining registration as a Professional Mechanical Engineer in the State of California.
  • Ensures that his/her work is of the highest quality in accordance with company design standards.
  • Assists in the filing and maintenance of all completed design drawings and documents.


  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or closely related field
  • Possess Mechanical Engineer-In-Training Certificate in the State of California
  • 2+ years of experience as a Mechanical Engineering-In-Training...HVAC experience is a plus

Basic Qualifications

  • Proficiency in reading/interpreting a construction document set
  • Ability to work well with others (team player) and follow instructions
  • Proficient in, or have the ability to become proficient in, office drafting standards using AutoCAD, REVIT, etc.
  • Ability to develop drawings with minimal direction
  • Proficient in all levels of construction document development

Compensation is based on experience.
