TETER Architects + Engineers is searching for a Senior Project Manager to join our Fresno Office. The Senior PM is responsible for all aspects of multiple projects, consistently exceeding client expectations, communicating regularly and effectively, ensuring documents are completed on time and under budget, and maintaining the firm's high quality standards.

The Senior Project Manager is responsible for overall project delivery, technical execution, project financial management, business communications, and marketing. The firm expects the Senior PM to execute essential functions such as, but not limited to, the following:

Project

  • Develop scope and prepare fee proposal
  • Ensure timely document delivery (monitor/adjust project schedules; communicate with client and project team; manage resources; complete tasks on or ahead of schedule)
  • Deliver profitable projects (prepare/maintain project work plans; monitor and act quickly on budget deviations; maximize additional services opportunities)
  • Maintain continuous open communication among client, consultants and firm team members throughout all phases of a project
  • Minimize firm risk and exposure on every project

Technical

  • Ensure the preparation of accurate, complete and value-added work products
  • Provide primary day-to-day technical skills necessary to execute the work
  • Ensure programming and/or pre-design criteria is carried out and implemented into the construction documents
  • Hold accountable all project team personal to the required "non-negotiables"
  • Manage and develop project staff (understand strengths and areas needing improvement; provide on-the-job coaching; develop support relationships)
  • Work in the Job Captain role when deemed necessary by the workload as required based on the fee magnitude/size/complexity of a project

Business

  • Maintain strong professional relationships with clients, consultants, contractors and regulatory agencies
  • Keep firm leadership apprised of project status and needs in order to quickly resolve project-related technical problems and project-related personnel issues
  • Manage each project's financial performance (ensure labor and expenses fit original budget; discuss variations with firm leadership; issue change of scope as needed)
  • Maximize project profitability (project budgeting; utilization of resources; expense cost controls)
  • Accept responsibility for giving, seeking and acting on feedback for personal career development and peak professional performance
  • Supervise Job Captain(s), Design Professional(s) and technical/production staff.

Marketing

  • Participate in presentations/interviews with potential clients
  • Contribute and work closely with marketing staff on SOQ/RFP preparation
  • Capitalize on new projects when working with past clients
  • Be an advocate for the TETER brand

QUALIFICATIONS
The successful Senior Project Manager is not just a project manager but a manager of clients, consultants and project staff across multiple disciplines. He/she is a superb delegator who supervises assignments efficiently, provides consistent support and direction, and isn't averse to diving into the details of a project when needed.

The Senior Project Manager is also an effective manager of his/her own time, setting goals, prioritizing, estimating hours and completing tasks on time. The Senior PM is self-motivated, committed to growing him/herself and the firm, and either possesses or is in pursuit of a California Architect license.

Lastly, the Senior PM has sound judgment, includes the appropriate people in the decision-making process and is able to provide reasoning/support for his/her decisions.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Construction, or related field.
  • In possession or pursuit of California Architect license, including NCARB and CAB registration and progression of reported AXP (IDP) hours.
  • More than 10 years of architecture and project management experience.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

Compensation based on experience. Benefits take effect on the 1st of the month following the date of employment and include medical, dental and employee-paid vision plans. A cafeteria plan, 401(k) plans, supplemental insurance, and Wellness and Gym programs are also available.
